Scouting Report: (6/18/2019) Jordan Butler is an exciting prospect with outstanding overall size. He possesses a great deal of bulk packed on his frame and has a thick sturdy build. While a three-hundred pounder-plus he still has a frame that can still be developed and re-worked some in a college weight program to maximize size.
He demonstrates very good playing strength and is a stout run defender. He is unstoppable when he keeps his pads down and fires out low. Jordan consistently controls blockers by delivering a good initial pop at contact and rarely loses ground in a one-on-one situation. He is very strong but at times he leans too much on his size and strength at this stage. He flashes adequate lateral mobility to be active between the tackles and can fire off the ball and power through contact to disrupt with penetration in the backfield.
As a push rusher, Jordan has the size and strength to drive blockers back and collapse the pocket with a bull rush, but he needs to do a better job of keeping his pads from rising. He has good initial burst but needs to improve the use of the weapons he already has.
Jordan will be ready to contribute against the run the day he arrives on campus. He needs to continue to develop as a pass rusher, but he has the physical tools to be just as dominant in the passing game. If he improves in this area during his senior season, he will likely get his 4th star.
