Scouting Report: (7/11/19)

Mekhail Sherman is fast and physical linebacker prospect who plays bigger than his 234 pounds would suggest. He has a great combination of size and speed and has been timed at 4.5 in the 40-yard dash. Mekhail has an elite burst and pursuit speed to chase down ball carriers anywhere on the field. He also has the long speed and fluid hips to excel in pursuit and on the perimeter. Despite having good size, he should pack on even more good mass once he hits a college weight room.

Mekhail is quick to read his keys and get a downhill jump on the football. He consistently shows he can beat blockers to the ball with inside-out angles. He is aggressive in pursuit while staying disciplined with his leverage.

He comes in hot as a tackler and will make solid contact when squared up to ball carrier. Tackles high at times but will still strike and limit leaky yardage. He flashes low drive-through tackles with good pop from his hips.

Mekhail is capable of covering most TE’s and running backs one-on-one. He shows good range in zone coverage and the ability to close quickly on his underneath targets. Mekhail has the skill set to be an elite pass rusher and blitzer. He is quick to penetrate and close and comes with a great motor.

Mekhail is an aggressive and productive linebacker prospect who is strong and athletic enough to develop inside or out. If he stays healthy and hungry, he should develop into an All-SEC player and first-round draft pick.
