Mekhi Wingo is one of those recruits that might not wow you on paper but blows you away on tape.  He is dominant both against the run and when rushing the passer.

Against the run, Mekhi consistently fires off low and power through contact and disrupts with penetration. Despite his size, he is quick and agile enough to be effective on the move executing line stunts and engulfs offensive linemen when he catches them in the phone booth.

As a pass rusher, Mekhi is quick off the ball and fires off low and can get up-field quickly. He has an elite bull rush that can move the QB off the spot when he fires out and stays low. He has heavy hands and does an excellent job of mixing up his weapons.

Mekhi has a non-stop motor and loves to mix-it-up to get the job done. He is flying under the radar because he doesn’t have the prototypical height for a defensive tackle. However, he seems to have the wingspan and a great combination of moves that will offset any height concerns.  While traditional recruiting services try to project a player’s NFL potential, I project their college potential. With that in mind, I believe he is a solid 4-star prospect.
