Paul Rodriguez has excellent height and length for the tackle position at this stage. He possesses very good bulk and demonstrates well above average playing strength, but while he is a big kid there is still room to further be developed physically with a frame that can support additional good mass.
In pass protection, Paul displays a powerful punch and does a nice job with his hands of striking up and latching on and locking out on first contact. He can maintain a good base with the ability to stay in front of rushers once locked on. If he does get to wide and miss the mark, he flashes the ability to reset and dig in.
Against the run, Paul shows the ability to come off with pad level and deliver a pop and roll his hips. When he does, he can generate one of the best pushes you will see in this class. He has good lateral quickness to seal the edge for a player his size. He also shows the ability to use angles climbing to the second level and cover up targets.
Paul is a Prospect with a very high ceiling. He has some edge to his play and is not afraid to mix-it-up and get physical. He works to stay with blocks and finish and will work downfield and look for someone to hit.
He is on the verge of picking up his 4th star. He needs to continue to improve the consistency of his pad level but with continued progress, he will be a strong multi-year starter for the Kentucky Wildcats.
